The Hôtel de France is located in the charming village of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, praised by the famous poet Ronsard in the 16th century. This village regained its fame thanks to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For more than 65 years, our hotel with its singular past has been the privileged and discreet refuge of many great drivers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Spotted in 1953 by Aston Martin's race director, it has hosted the most famous Le Mans winners, the Aston Martin, Porsche, Ford, Ferrari and Triumph teams, as well as political and artistic personalities such as Steve McQueen (star of the classic film Le Mans), Jackie Onassis, Bobby Kennedy, Pierre Salinger and René Coty, to name but a few.

Our hotel is a regular venue for motoring events organised by owners' clubs, manufacturers and other associations.
The great history of the 24h and the passion for motoring can be seen everywhere at the Hôtel de France. The walls are decorated with autographed photos of regulars Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell, as well as a tapestry retracing the great dates of the race.W e invite you to come and stay with us in a warm and welcoming setting that celebrates the ‘art de vivre à la française’.

The Hôtel de France is a must for motor sport enthusiasts from all over the world, but it is also open to all types of guests and all types of stays: family holidays in the Sarthe, romantic getaways or evening stopovers between Le Mans and Tours... In 2013, Martin Overington, a British man who fell in love with the place, bought the establishment and renovated it to offer you, behind its majestic façade: 25 elegant rooms, a tasty restaurant ‘le Relais de Ronsard’ and facilities to enhance your stay, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool with a riverside garden, a well-exposed terrace and an inner courtyard.
